Author Interview : Gabriella Lepore

♥ GABRIELLA LEPORE ♥

♥ BOOK COVER : SECRETS IN PHOENIX ♥
OMG I LOVE THE COVER SO MUCH!

I have decided to throw my hat in the ring and do some author interviews on my blog! I was honored to interview Gabriella Lepore, author of Secrets In Phoenix.

Please describe what the story/book is about? ( Secrets in Phoenix )
Secrets in Phoenix is a contemporary/fantasy YA that follows Sophie and her twin brothers Sam and Todd as they adjust to their new life in Phoenix Holt. At their new school they meet a group of boys who aren't entirely what they seem...

Briefly, what led up to this book?
I have been writing Supernatural YA for a few years now and SiP was something a little different from my other books as whilst staying true to the genre.

What was the time frame for writing this book?
I actually wrote this book back in 2012. It only took around 6 months to completecomplete, but it stayed inside my computer for a long time, until it found a home with OfTomes Publishing.

What were your 1-2 biggest learning experience(s) or surprise(s) throughout the publishing process?
When we did the cover reveal I was overwhelmed by the support from fellow YA readers! It meant so much to me :)

Best piece(s) of advice for writers trying to break in?
Write for yourself! Write the book that you'd want to read, and everything else will fall into place.

How did you begin writing? Did you intend to become an author, or do you have a specific reason or reasons for writing each book?

I've wanted to be an author from as far back as I can remember. I love creating characters and daydreaming about them all day! I suppose each book reflects a certain time in my life and every book involves witches in one form or another!

What authors do you like to read? What book or books have had a strong influence on you or your writing?

Growing up I read a lot of WJ Corbet. He has a quirky and wry sense of humour, and that shows in his books.

What’s more important: characters or plot?
Characters!
How hard is it to establish and maintain a career in fiction writing?
It takes persistance, but if you love it you can make it work. Don't ever give up!

Any last thoughts for our readers?
Thanks for reading!
